Laois library hosting free ‘mindfulness’ event for those aged 12-14

Mountmellick Library is set to host a free virtual mindfulness event for those aged 12-14.

‘Mindfulness for Teens aged 12 -14 years’ will be hosted by Patricia Kavanagh.

It will be held over Zoom on Saturday March 6 from 11am to 12pm.

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment.

Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.

Practitioners of mindfulness say it is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, we just have to learn how to access it.

Anyone wishing to take part can do so by registering their interest by emailing mountmellicklibrary@laoiscoco.ie.

Organisers say: “Patricia aims to help teens be more aware of what is happening rather than worry about what has or might happen.”
