The group will shortly begin running online groups during Covid-19 restrictions.

These intend to create and distribute awareness materials and when permitted – they will have in person events and social activities.

The projects first online get together will take place on March 23 at 7pm and all aged over 18 are welcome.

Christina Fitzharris, who is the LGBT+ Community Development Coordinator for Youth Work Ireland Laois, says she hopes the new project will help people to connect.

She said: “We are very pleased to be announcing the start of this exciting new project for the LGBTI+ Community in Laois.

“We believe it will have a great impact in connecting people and reducing isolation felt, especially in current times.

“More details will be launched via our Facebook Page Laois LGBTI+ Project shortly or you can get in touch on laoislgbt@ywilaois.com.

“We welcome all thoughts and feedback from the community at this time so we can continue and build the best possible service.”

The project is managed by Youth Work Ireland Laois, however this service will be an adult only service running alongside their already existing under 18’s projects.
