The Laois GAA kitmen will once again be driving in style this year as Downey’s Auto Stop in Portlaoise has kindly donated two brand new vehicles ahead of the start of the 2021 season.
Ollie Byrne of the senior footballers and Pat Delaney of the senior hurlers were given the keys to their new Ford Transit Connect kit vans last night.
Laois GAA chairman Peter O’Neill said that the Downey family have for years been proud supporters and sponsors of Laois GAA and they delighted to continue that tradition in 2021.
He said: “I want to wish Downey’s the very best of luck with their business throughout the year.
“They have always been very supportive to us and I know we will continue to support them too.”
Richard Downey of Downey’s AutoStop wished both teams the very best of luck for the season ahead.
He said: “We are very happy to be able to support the senior footballers and hurlers once again this year.
“The very best of luck to both teams this year.”
The action gets underway this weekend as the hurlers face Wexford in the South East on Sunday in Round 1 of the National Hurling League.
While the footballers will begin their campaign the following Saturday in Ennis against Clare.
