Laois football team named for relegation clash with Down

The Laois football team for tomorrow’s relegation playoff against Down in Newry shows four changes from the side beaten by Kildare two weeks ago.

Portarlington duo Sean Byrne and Colm Murphy come in for their first starts of the year while Donie Kingston and Colm Begley have recovered from injury to take their place also.

Those to lose out are Alan Farrell, Brian Byrne, Gary Walsh and the injured Danny O’Reilly who isn’t part of the matchday 26.

Ballyroan-Abbey’s Marty Scully is included in the squad for the first time this year as he has recovered from injury.

Laois take on Down in Pairc Esler in Newry on Saturday at 6.15pm with the loser dropping to Division 3 of the National Football League for the 2022 season.

Cork face Westmeath in the other Division 2 relegation playoff in Pairc ui Chaoimh.
