Local girls behind new coffee venture in Togher Woods

Togher Woods on the edge of Portlaoise town has been a much-visited local landmark for years – but even more so over the past 16 months during the various Coronavirus-related lockdowns.

And now a group of enterprising young local girls have tapped into the demand for good coffee – and maybe even cake – while we’re out for a walk.

L&Co Coffee Truck, which is operated by Inez, Mae and Orla Looney from Togher, are on site every day in Togher Woods from 10am-6pm serving a selection of  teas, coffees, cold drinks anda range of delicious homebakes. The girls are ably assisted by Niamh O’Sullivan and Molly Finlay.

The truck is located just a short distance from the car park at the centre junction area in the woods close to the old cottage. A number of picnic tables have also recently been added.

Togher Woods provides a beautiful woodland setting, managed by Coillte, with a number of walking route options – and crucially on a mostly flat surface which makes it easy for buggies and small children.

The best way of getting to Togher is from Junction 17 at the motorway on the Abbeyleix Road.

Laois County Council have recently upgraded the approach road and  now there’s  the  added bonus of  having  a  walk  and chat  with coffee  and cake  in a beautiful outdoor setting  .

The girls report that they have had a very busy start and are expecting to be even busier next week with  groups booking in for  outdoor coffee mornings, afternoon teas and outdoor play dates when schools finish up.

L&Co are proud to serve, Moyee Coffee. The girls explain that the choice and  opportunity to present Moyee Coffee , the world’s first FairChain Coffee, helps address the imbalance that exists between coffee producing and coffee consuming countries.

Feedback from customers has been that it tastes great too!

Please make sure if you are visiting any of Laois’s beauty spots not to block any entrances/exits that may need to be used in the case of an emergency. Keep your dogs on a lead and bring home your rubbish!
