Fixture details confirmed for ladies football All Ireland quarter-final clash with Louth

Laois ladies footballers

The Laois ladies footballers will make the trip to Kinnegad in Westmeath once again for their All Ireland intermediate championship quarter-final clash with Louth.

The game is fixed for 2pm on Sunday week, August 8, at the same Westmeath venue that Laois got the better of Roscommon in the final group game last Sunday.

Donie Brennan’s side come into the game as Division 3 league champions and group winners following successes over Kildare and Roscommon in the championship.

Louth, who were junior champions in 2019, won Division 4 of the league back in June – and came second in their championship group to reach the quarter-final.

They lost to Down in their opening game but a win over Offaly last weekend sent them through to the last eight.

The winners of Laois and Louth will advance to the semi-final the following weekend where they will meet the winners of Down and Wexford.

On the other side of the draw, Clare and Westmeath meet in Tuam in one quarter-final while Kildare and Leitrim clash in the other game in Ballinasloe.

Currently there is a limit of 200 spectators at the games in grounds like Kinnegad. As has been the case with all their matches this year, the fixture will be broadcast online.

The senior ladies football quarter-finals, meanwhile, take place this coming weekend with Armagh-Meath and Cork-Waterford on Sunday and Mayo-Galway and Dublin-Donegal on the Bank Holiday Monday.
