Talking Sport Podcast: Looking back on the opening round of the Laois club football championships

Talking Sport Podcast

What a busy weekend that was and in our latest LaoisToday Talking Sport Podcast, we look back on all the local club GAA action.

Following on from Courtwood’s shock win over Portlaoise in the first round on Thursday night, which we discussed on Friday’s Podcast, there was another upset on Friday evening when O’Dempsey’s got the better of Emo.

We discuss that impressive showing – as well as the games on Saturday that saw wins for Graiguecullen, Portarlington and Ballyroan-Abbey.

From there it was on to Sunday where Rosenallis, Stradbally and St Joseph’s all booked their place in the Round 2 winner section.

We look back at all the games, pick our Man of the Match in each and look briefly ahead to the Round 2 fixtures in two weeks time.

We also chat about the intermediate draw and Sunday’s junior football games, where Annanough were the only first team in action in addition to straying into hurling talk and Clough-Ballacolla’s win over The Harps in the delayed Round 1 senior hurling game.

As well as that we chat about Portlaoise’s upcoming Leinster club ladies football final, the Laois links to Meath’s success in the All Ireland ladies final and Westmeath’s win in the intermediate grade.

Plus the end of Laois GAA TV and Steven’s pet hate of frees not being taken from the correct position!
