€28,000 in funding to support outdoor tourism in Laois forests as four car parks to get makeover

Four car parks in Laois that are used by people to park before they walk are set to receive a makeover.

Laois TD Charlie Flanagan revealed how €28,000 has been allocated for works.

The money will be used to resurface existing car parks in these scenic spots.

Dunmore visitor car-park will have €4,500 spent on it while €6,000 is going to Monicknew.

The Cut will receive the biggest allocation of €13,500 while Togher is to get €4,000.

Deputy Flanagan said: “During Covid, alongside a drive for healthier living, many of our amenities in Laois saw increased foot fall.

“Adequate car parking facilities at these locations is essential.

“The funds will help.”
