Laois Ladies SFC Group B Round 2

St Brigid’s maintained their unbeaten start to the Ladies SFC with a three point win over Shanahoe on Saturday.

Kieran Kelly and Mick Moore’s charges followed last week’s draw with Portlaoise with this win.

It means they will qualify directly for the semi finals as group winners if Portlaoise fail to defeat Shanahoe by four points or more.

St Brigid’s led this one from the start and enjoyed a 0-6 to 0-2 advantage at half time.

Mary Griffin’s second half goal gave Shanahoe, who won the IFC last year, some hope of a revival.

But Aisling Lacey, Patrice Whelan and Anna Moore finished with three points each as St Brigid’s prevailed.

Elsewhere, there were big wins for St Conleth’s and Sarsfields in Group A.

St Conleth’s enjoyed a 4-12 to 1-7 win over Timahoe and they are now top of the group – meaning a win over St Paul’s in their final game would seal a semi final place.

Timahoe are joined in second position by Sarsfields after the latter defeated St Paul’s by 4-22 to 2-6.

St Paul’s must defeat St Conleth’s in the final round or they will finish bottom of the group and end up in the relegation final.
