SOLAS Eco Garden Centre in Portarlington again this weekend has its Farmers Market on Saturday (December 11) from 10am to 2pm and will have a Christmas Craft market on Sunday (December 12) from 11am to 4pm.

“Last Sunday’s SOLAS Christmas Craft market saw the largest number of exhibitors and customers evet to attend a market with 32 separate stalls and 1,800 customers visiting over the day,” said David Maher of SOLAS.

Christmas treats and gifts on offer included Pictures, Sculpture, Jewellery, candles and wax melts, Christmas door wreaths, floral arrangements, Cards, Christmas Face masks, Wooden snowmen, chocolate lollipops & marshmallow treats, Christmas logs and silk flowers.

David Maher of SOLAS explains: “A very large number of new craft stall holders have been part of our Christmas craft market and they have really delivered for us in terms of quality and range.

“In total between the farmers market on the Saturday and Sunday Christmas market we are featuring 60 different stall holders each weekend.

“As there were a large number of craft exhibitors who we were not able to accommodate we have made a decision to start running monthly craft markets on the first Sunday of each month starting on Sunday, February 6, 2022.”

Maher explains: “It is a virtuous circle the quality and range of the exhibitors has attracted huge crowds and this has allowed us to bring in the very best market stall.

“This Saturday’s Farmers market will feature a fantastic display by “Bart’s Belgian Chocolates”.

“The farmers market will this weekend and next contain some very seasonal offering in terms of the food with hampers very much to the fore. For Fresh food hampers customers are being encouraged to place their orders this weekend and then several stall holders will be in the market on Thursday 23 December for customers to pick up their orders.”

The Christmas Craft market on Sunday will feature over 30 exhibitors including 12 stalls which will be at SOLAS for the first time.

Maher explains: “we are really thrilled that a number of students from Colaiste Iosagain  are due to exhibit with us over the next 2 weekends. It is great to see craft and entrepreneurship being exhibited by our young people”
