Richard (Dickie) Dunne, Emmet Tce, Mountmellick, died January 3rd 2022, in Coventry England. Beloved husband of Pauline, nee Geoghegan, Bay Road, Mountmellick. Recently predeceased by his son Mark. Deeply regretted by his wife Pauline, son Alan, daughters Maureen and Jackie, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, neighbours relatives and many friends.

Dickie’s Funeral will take place in Coventry at a later date.

Portlaoise, Laois /Naul, Dublin /Meath

O’Reilly, Rev Fr. Patrick, Sue Ryder House, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, and late of Ford of Fine, Naul, Co. Dublin. Retired Priest of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, New Yorkand formerly of the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey, USA. 

Died 2nd January 2022 at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Marcella, brothers DarraghEamon and Christopher. Deeply regretted by his sisters Margaret, Mary and Sheila, his brothers Philip and Myles, sisters-in-law, brother –in-law, nieces, and nephews. Bishop Terry R. LaValley and the priests of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, New York and Monsignor John Byrne, PP Portlaoise and the Priests and Religious of Portlaoise Parish.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home, Portlaoise, on Tuesday from 4pm with removal at 4.50pm to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, for 5pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/Funeral immediately afterwards to Clonalvy CemeteryArdcathGarristown, Co Dublin.

Castletown, Laois/Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon

Br. Gerald Macken FSC, De La Salle Brothers, Castletown, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and late of Barrack Street, Ballaghadereen, Co. Roscommon, January 2 2022. Predceased by his parents Joseph and Lily Macken (nee Casey) brothers Br. James FSC, Fr. Joseph, Sr, Bridie (Winnie) and John.

Greatly missed by relatives, friends, past pupils and especially by his confreres in religion and the staff at Miguel House Castletown.

Funeral Mass will take place this Wednesday (Jan. 5th.) at 2pm in the Pastoral Centre Chapel, Castletown. followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Current Covid 19 restrictions apply. The funeral Mass will be streamed online via the following Zoom link:

Mary (Molly) Keane (née Brennan) Brockry, Errill, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and formerly Revanagh, Castlewarren, Co. Kilkenny. January 1st 2022. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the tender care of the nurses and staff of Killerig Nursing Home, Co. Carlow.

Pre-deceased by her husband John (Jack), infant son Martin-Oliver and her sister Nan Heffernan. Sadly mourned by her family, daughter Maureen, her sons Martin, Michael, Sean (John), Kevin, Joe and Brendan, son-in-law Liam O’Dea, daughters-in-law Margaret, Melanie, Mary, Pauline, Ann-Marie and Siobhán, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister Cissie Comerford, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Removal from Brockry, Errill on Friday morning at 10.30 am to St. Canice’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory via Killasmeestia and Green Roads, for funeral mass at 11 am followed by interment in Derrinsallagh Cemetery, Borris-in-Ossory. Please adhere to the COVID-19 Directive regarding public gathering etiquette.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Demelza, children Andreas, Stephanie, Emily and Maddison, loving parents Bernie and Peter, loving brothers Brian and Alan, mother-in-law Eileen, Andreas’ partner Sinéad, sister-in-law Gemma, niece Aoibheann, nephews Donnacha and Logan, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Requiem Mass will be held at 10am (Monday 3rd January) in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Arles followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

William (Billy) Keane
Rosemount, Moate, Westmeath/Rathdowney, Laois

William (Billy) Keane: Eustis, Florida, and late of Rosemount, Moate, Co. Westmeath and Rathdowney, Co Laois, Billy, 90, died suddenly on 24th December, Christmas Eve.

He was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Molly, daughter Karen (Florida), brother Pat (Cortown, Kells) and infant brother Michael.

Sadly missed by his wife Nancy, their son Powell and daughters Maria and Missy, his brothers Hugh, Joe, Tony, George, Johnny, Jimmy and by his extended family in the U.S.A. and Ireland.

A mass of remembrance has been celebrated in the Church of St. Thomas, Rosemount on Thursday, 30th December.

Dinah Dunne (nee Keenan) Pattison Estate, Mountmellick, died unexpectedly, at home, on December 21st 2021.

Deeply regretted by her husband Eddie, son Edward, daughter Edel, grandchildren Madison, Muireann, Alex and Max, sister Maura O’Loughlin, St. Brigid’s Portlaoise, nieces and nephews, neighbours, relatives and many friends.

Reposing Moloneys Funeral Home on Tuesday 4th from 7pm. Recital of The Rosary at 8.30pm. Removal from the funeral home on Wednesday at 10.50am arriving St. Josephs Church for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after in St Joseph’s Cemetery.

Patrick (Paddy) Quarney
Rushin, Mountrath, Laois, R32 X7F1

Patrick (Paddy) Quarney, Rushin, Mountrath, Co.Laois. (Eircode R32X7F1). Died on the 30th December 2021, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

Predeceased by his wife Marion. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his home on New Year’s Day from 3.0’clock with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Removal on Sunday (2nd Jan.) to St. Edmund’s Church Castletown (eircode R32KT22), for Requiem Mass at 2.0’clock, which will be live streamed on the St. Edmund’s Church Castletown facebook page, followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

In memory of Patrick Keenan who died at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow. Patrick was much loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Breakspear Crematorium on Friday, 7th January 2022, at 12 noon. Funeral to follow in Raheen, County Laois.
