It seems a long time since any of us have been able to dress up and go to an event – but thankfully that is changing.
So these photos from a Portlaoise Rugby Club Dinner Dance 22 years ago in 2000 will surely feel like a lifetime ago for those featured.
Yet there’s something classic and timeless about the style at a black-tie event.
The dinner was hosted in the old Killeshin Hotel on the Dublin Road.
Pints and bow-ties, rising stars of the club and former greats – it had all the makings of a great event.
Sadly, some of those pictured are no longer with us, like Joe Ramsbottom, who passed away prematurely in 2006.
