Host families wanted in Portlaoise and surrounding towns for Spanish students this summer – top of the market rates paid

Laois Language Centre

Based in Portlaoise, Laois Language Centre in collaboration with A-Level language school in Bilbao, in the North of Spain, was set up with the aim of delivering high quality language courses including Spanish, French, German and English as a foreign language.

The first group of foreign students will be studying English in Portlaoise this summer during the months of June and July.

For this reason Laois Language Centre is looking for Host Families to host the students.

Though the students daily classes are in Portlaoise, host families can be from anywhere in the vicinity – Portarlington, The Heath, Abbeyleix, Mountrath, Stradbally etc.

The hosting experience

Irish host families come in all shapes and sizes but they all share one thing: they open their homes and share their lives with exchange students from around the world.

Hosting an exchange student doesn’t need anything out of this world — just a warm, welcoming spirit and friendly environment with plenty of chat so they can improve their oral English.

Host families are paid €210 per week though this could be greater depending on their location and can be negotiated.

For our exchange students, it’s the little things that make their stay special. They love to experience Irish culture and take part in family traditions and activities.

There will be group leader with the student throughout the whole stay. They provide local support to you and your student as well as your student’s school activities and serve as a link to the student and Laois Language Centre.

The exchange students Daily Timetable:

  • 9.30am to 1pm – English Classes in Treo Nua, Portlaoise
  • 1pm-2pm – Hand packed lunch
  • 2pm-6pm – Activities
  • 6pm – Dinner and time with host family
  • Saturday: Excursion,. 10am to 6pm
