Abbeyleix Golf Club claim Leinster title and will compete in All-Ireland Quarter-Final this month

Abbeyleix Golf Club are through to the All-Ireland quarter final after they beat Portlaoise Golf Club in the Central Leinster Pierce Purcell final in Enniscorthy recently.

The victorious Abbeyleix team’s pairings were: Kevin Joyce and Mark Ring; Declan Clooney and Matt Thorton; Anthony Collins and Neil Condon; Martin Lawlor and Gavin Bonham; Pat O’Rourke and Enda Cassin.

The reserves were: Tom Bryan, Simon Walkin, Wayne Comerford, Donal O’Callaghan and Aidan Dunphy. While they are managed by Ronan Purcell.

The All-Ireland series will be played in Nightsbrook Golf Club (Meath) from September 15-17.

Abbeyleix Golf Club will face Edmonstown (Dublin) in their Quarter Final Match on Thursday September 15. The match will get underway at 12.40pm.

If Abbeyleix were to win they would take on the winner from the side of the draw that contains Mayobridge (Down), Woodstock (Clare) and Dooks (Kerry).

That All-Ireland semi-final is down for Friday September 16 at 10am.

The other side of the draw will see Lismore (Waterford) face Lisburn (Antrim) and Clontarf (Dublin) play Castlebar (Mayo) in the quarter-finals.

The All Ireland Final is scheduled to take place on Saturday September 17 at 9.30am.
