In Pictures: Wonderful selection of images as Laois School of Music celebrates its 21st in St Peter’s church in Portlaoise

Laois School of Music celebrated its 21st year last weekend with two concerts in St Peters Church of Ireland, Portlaoise.

On SaturdayLaois School of Music Ensembles performed. The Laois School of Music Junior Youth Orchestra and the Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music Chamber Group both took to the stage to a great audience response.

Alumni of Laois School of Music Elliott Murphy (cello) and Erin Dollard (soprano) also performed, and many Musician Educators who teach with Laois School of Music played on the night including Mary Wisely, Tatyana Vykhodtseva, Sonya Cadogan, Kim Melia and Andrea Sacchi,

On Sunday an afternoon Piano Recital in St. Peter’s Church featured Laois School of Music Musician Educators Mary Wisely, Tatyana Vykhodtseva and past pupils David Vesey, Emmett Malone and Jonathan Murray.

Laois School of Music has a dedicated staff of 15 professional Music Tutors and offers expert tuition in piano, woodwind, strings, percussion, vocal training and Music Theory.

Speaking at the 21st Birthday celebrations, Rosa Flannery, Music Development Officer with Laois School of Music said, “we are so grateful for all the supports provided to develop Laois School of Music over the past 21 years, including the support of Laois County Council including the Arts Office, the Arts Council and Laois Offaly Education and Training Board”.

“We provide access to high-quality music education, and we inspire a life-long love of music in all our students.

“We are very proud of all who performed at our birthday concerts, including current students, our Musician Educators and alumni of Laois School of Music.

“Thanks also to all the parents, and the people of Laois over the past 21 years who have been so supportive of us.

“We are very excited that Laois is leading the way in the provision of music education services in Ireland.”

The Laois School of Music 21st Birthday Celebrations was presented by Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music, supported by Laois County Council as part of the Local Live Performance Programme funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
