Laois Gardai launch investigation after two men taken to hospital following alleged assault

Gardai in Laois have launched an investigation after two men were taken to hospital following an alleged assault in broad daylight.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning, at around 11.45am, in the Kilminchy Housing estate.

When Gardai arrived, two men, both aged in their 20s, had been injured.

They were subsequently transferred to Tullamore Hospital where their injuries are described as ‘non-life-threatening’.

No arrests have been made as yet and Gardai confirmed they have launched an investigation.

A spokesperson said: “Gardaí were called to the scene of an alleged assault that occurred in the Kilminchy area, Portlaoise, Co. Laois at approximately 11:45am on Sunday 30th October 2022.

“Two males, both in their 20s, were taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

“No arrests have been made at this time.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
