Laois Gardai arrest disqualified driver caught driving away from court following sentance

Gardai

Laois Gardai arrested a disqualified driver following a rather bizarre incident recently.

Back in January, Abbeyleix Gardai were on patrol when they detected a driver that they knew to be disqualified.

The driver was arrested and appeared before Portlaoise District Court where they were given a four year driving ban and a three month suspended prison sentence.

But directly after the case finished, Gardai witnessed the now disqualified driver, driving away from the court house.

They were arrested again and have now been given a prison sentence.

Gardai say: “Where do we even start with this one.

“You might remember a post from our page last month where a disqualified driver was arrested and charged to court.

“This case was before Portlaoise District Court recently where the driver received a 4 year driving disqualification and a 3 month suspended prison sentence.

“Directly after the case finished in court, the prosecuting Garda was returning to the station where they saw the disqualified driver, driving away from the court house.

“The driver was arrested again and charged for driving while disqualified and brought back into court the same day, where this time they received a 10 year disqualification, a 4 month prison sentence and a large fine.

“We have officially seen it all now!!”
