Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre holding Open Day this Tuesday, March 7

It is with great excitement that the team at Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre invite you to their Open Day on Tuesday 7th March to discover the range of courses provided in the Centre.

The centre will be open to visitors from 10am to 12noon and 4pm-5pm.

The centre has put together a superb offering this autumn, which will allow you to expand your options and develop skills for your future career.

The Centre is ideally located on the Mountrath Rd Abbeyleix, just off the N7, providing a variety of relevant and innovative Further Education and Training courses for learners and the local community.

Learners at the Centre can avail of a supportive and friendly environment as they embark on their studies through an extensive range of full-time and flexible, part-time offerings.

Courses on offer are ideal for school leavers, adults returning to education, and those wishing to upskill in a new area who are employed or preparing for employment.

Courses vary from non-certified right up to QQI Level 6 Major Awards allowing for progression to further study, and various employment opportunities.

This autumn full-time day courses continue in the popular areas of Business, Return to Learning, Animation, Healthcare, and Art, Craft & Design.

Last September the Centre launched two exciting new courses in the areas of Biosciences and Nursing Studies which have proved very popular with learners given the excellent employment opportunities available.

Courses are free with some offering progression options directly to second year in third level institutes offering significant savings on the cost of attending college. With the soaring cost of living many students and their parents may be shocked when faced with the potential costs involved in attending college. For a student living away from home Zurich Financials estimate that average costs for the first year of college reach almost €14000. Abbeyleix FETC offers two QQI Level 6 Courses in Business Management and Advanced Art which offer candidates the opportunity for direct entry into 2nd year of college degree programmes potentially saving a full year of college costs.

Part-time modules are available in the Business and Healthcare courses.

There are also courses in Horticulture, Upholstery, Painting, Pyrography and lots more.

The Centre also provides a free Information and Guidance Support Service for all learners. This service is a vital resource which will provide you with detailed information on the courses you are interested in through one-to-one guidance sessions.

This can help you navigate your options and plan your future through funding, grants and other supports.

Other services include a dedicated Learner Support Service, Laptop Loan Scheme, a canteen and our free bus services servicing Rathdowney, Mountrath, Portarlington, Mountmellick and Portlaoise.

The courses take place in a range of modern settings including art studios, laboratory and high spec computer suites.

The Centre campus has helped thousands of adult learners achieve their qualifications over the years, why not come to the open day and see what it can offer you?
