Matt Dunne & Associates RICS SCSI sold a 122 Acre non-residential Farm at Killeigh, Tullamore, Co Offaly.

The sale was made by public Auction at The Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore on the 13th June 2023.

2 – Meet the Clare man who is making a name for himself between the sticks with Laois

The Laois senior footballers are preparing for a trip to Croke Park this Sunday to face Down in the Tailteann Cup semi final.

Billy Sheehan’s came through a dramatic semi final against Limerick where their keeper made three outstanding saves.

3 – In Pictures: St Peter’s Church and Graveyard officially re-opened in Portlaoise

Thomasina Connell, Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council officially re-opened old St. Peter’s Church and Graveyard in Portlaoise recently.

Significant work has been completed in recent years to restore the church and overall site, which had become very run down and overgrown.

5 – Planning permission sought for large new residential development in Laois 

Laois County Council have received a request for planning permission for a large new residential development.

The site in question is at Canal Road in Portarlington, which is currently home to McCann Park, St Patrick’s Boys NS, and Lidl.

6 – Key Laois GAA coaching appointment as new Head of Games development confirmed

Shane Keegan has been confirmed as the new Laois GAA Head of Games development, a role similar to what was left vacant following Mike Henchy’s departure.

Keegan, who is from Rathdowney, is the current full-time coach with Portlaoise GAA, a role he took up in March of last year which will now need to be filled again following his promotion.

7 – Rural Laois primary school unveils plans for a brand new building with a modern twist

Gaelscoil Shlí Dála has unveiled plans to build a brand new primary school at their current location in Ballaghmore.

The school, which has two mainstream classrooms and two early intervention ASD classrooms, is located adjacent to the Kyle GAA pitch on the border with Tipperary.

8 – Two Laois senior club football championship Round 1 matches to be played outside O’Moore Park

Two of the games from the opening round of the Laois senior football championship are set to take place outside of O’Moore Park.

For well over a decade, the vast majority of the senior football and hurling championships have been staged entirely in Laois GAA HQ.

9 – The Laois company that has become a massive success story – Stradbally Farm Services celebrates 40 years in business

40 years ago this week, Jimmy Groarke started a business out of the garage at the back of his house that would go on to become a massive success story.

“For any company to be successful, it must have staff, product and customers. We have been very lucky to have an excellent staff who strived to develop the company into what it is today,” Jimmy said.

10 – Millers Home and Garden announces expansion and move to new premises

Millers Home and Garden have announced they are moving premises to the former Condell and Ryan’s building in Kealew Business Park on the old Mountrath Road from September 1st of this year.

Millers Home and Garden are currently based in the old Leinster Express Business Park on the Dublin Road where they have been for the past number of years.

The new premises will be the largest forest and garden machinery outlet of its kind in the midlands with a very large customer retail showroom along with an enlarged workshop and spare parts section.
