Major works at Mountmellick Boys National School approved to go to tender

Laois-Offaly TD, Sean Fleming, Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, has welcomed the news that major works at Scoil Phádraig Naofa NS, in Mountmellick, have been approved to go to tender.

“I am pleased with the good news that works have been approved by the Minister for Education to go to tender,” Minister Fleming said in a statement.

The project is to include the addition of three mainstream classrooms; three resource rooms; and one home-school liaison room.

“Following my discussions with the Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD, I am pleased that this project has been approved to go to tender immediately.

“I look forward to an early successful tender process and construction works commencing as soon as possible.

“This is welcome news for families, students, staff and the entire school community.

“Finally, I want to compliment the school management and all those involved for all their work in progressing this very important education project in Mountmellick,” Minister Fleming concluded.

The news comes weeks after the announcement that the school, along with the adjoining St Joseph’s Girls NS would be part of the new school meals program.
