Sadness in Durrow at death of long-serving pharmacist John Freeman

There is sadness in Durrow this week with the news of the passing of John Freeman, the highly-regarded pharmacist who’d worked in the town for a long number of years.

John owned the Durrow Pharmacy on Mary Street in the town and had been serving the people of Durrow and surrounding areas for more than 30 years.

A highly-regarded member of the local community, he was a native of Kilkenny.

He was renowned in his professional capacity for the kindness and decency he showed to his many customers as well as being a loyal employer.

John died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, 6th July 2023.

Pre-deceased by his parents Bridget and James, his sister Maureen, his brothers Martin and Rev. Séamus SAC.

Beloved husband of Catherine and much loved father of James, Sarah, Kate, David, Michael, Kieran, Robert and Evana.

Deeply missed by his brothers Tommy and Pat and his sisters Esther and Mary RSM, his children’s spouses and partners, grandchildren Grace, Anna, Tom, Robyn, Hugh, Sadie and Edra, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family, kind neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at his home in Durrow (Eircode R32 T8R2) on Friday, July 7th from 3pm pausing for Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm. Funeral arriving to The Church of The Holy Trinity, Durrow for Requiem Mass on Saturday, 8th July at 12 noon. Burial will follow afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
