    Six weeks after Billy Sheehan announced he was stepping down as manager of the Laois senior footballers, the wait for his replacement continues.

    Sheehan stepped down a week after Laois were beaten by Down in the Tailteann Cup semi final – with the Ulster side later beaten by Meath.

    7 – Planning permission sought for a new residential development on the Laois Carlow border

    Whitehorse Developments Ltd (trading as Capital Homes Limited) have applied to Laois County Council for planning permission for a residential development.

    The project is for a site in Crossneen, just outside Graiguecullen on the Laois side of the Carlow border.

    Jamie Malone from Graiguecullen is running the Longford Ultra Marathon in memory of his friend, Paddy Branagan.

    Paddy, also from Graiguecullen, died unexpectedly in the United States in May of last year.

    It was a very entertaining Round 2 of the championship with the majority of games close in nature.

    10 – Laois nursing home residents set to celebrate the role of music in nursing homes 

    County Laois nursing homes will join compatriots across the country in hosting music-themed celebrations to mark Nursing Homes Week 2023.

    Taking place Monday, August 21 to 27, Nursing Homes Week is the national celebration of nursing home care, celebrating residents and staff in our nursing homes and its role in Irish society.
