Portlaoise Rugby club inviting girls to new trial programme for bursary prize

Portlaoise Rugby Club are inviting all first-year girls to give rugby a try.

The club are running a trial programme from Saturday, September 23, until Saturday, October 28.

Those who commit to the full trial programme will be entered into a bursary draw.

The total bursary draw of €1,000 will be divided into five €200 sports vouchers – one for each school.

Only new players are eligible. Training sessions are Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm in Togher.

The 2023/24 season will mark the first full season for new Head Coach, Tyrone Elliott, who took over the position just before Christmas 2022.

The South African-born coach brings a wealth of experience to the position from his time at Munster Rugby and Cistercian College Roscrea.

The new trial programme comes in the wake of Portlaoise RFC launching their new scholarship initiative, awarded to Jack Downey and Dylan Clear, both of St Mary’s CBS.
