Elizabeth (Betty) McCarthy, 103 St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise, November 9th 2023 Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Tim and son Padjo. Dearly loved mother to Kevin, Timothy (Oggie), Elizabeth, Edwina, Edel, Emma, Eimear, Evelyn, Emily, and Erika, Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Deeply regretted by her loving brothers and sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, sons in law, daughters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at home on Sunday from 3 pm with rosary at 8 pm. Removal on Monday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 12 noon mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Caroline (Carrie) Higgins (née Flynn)
Rossleighan, Portlaoise, Laois / Geashill, Offaly

Caroline (Carrie) Higgins (nee Flynn), Rossleighan, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and formerly of Ballintogher, Geashill, Co. Offaly. Peacefully at Mountmellick Community Care Hospital in the company of her family and in the loving care of the hospital staff. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Phil. Beloved wife of the late Christy (cattle dealer and publican). Deeply regretted by her loving family Christy, Kevin, Pat and Leo, her eight grandchildren and her eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, daughter-in-law Theresa, son-in-law Kevin, neighbours, relatives and her many friends.

Reposing in Moloney’s Funeral Home, Mountmellick on Sunday from 3pm. Recital of the rosary at 5.30pm. Removal from her home on Monday at 1.15pm arriving to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. Angela Keane
5 Ellington Apartments, Portarlington, Laois

Angela passed away on November 9th at her residence. Formerly of Vallumbrosa, Station Rd., Portarlington, Co. Laois. Predeceased by her parents Con and Betty, brother John and   brother in law Brian. Sadly missed by her siblings Muriel, Richard, Carmel, Barbara, David;  sister in law Marie;  brothers in law Michael, Brian & John; nieces Clodagh, Alison, Isabelle & Eva; nephews Neville, Philip, Robert, Conor, Conn, Stefan and Matthew.

Reposing at her home 5 Eglington Apartments, Link Road, Portarlington, Co. Laois, on Sunday, 12th November, from 4pm-6pm. Removal on Monday morning by Whelehan Funeral Director’s to arrive at St. Michael’s Church, Portarlington (R32 HY38) for Requiem Mass at 10am. Catherine Comerford-Smeaton
Levalley, Rathdowney, Laois, R32 V5D3

Catherine Comerford-Smeaton, Levalley, Rathdowney, Co. Laois, November 8th. 2023, peacefully, at the Milford Care Centre Limerick, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents John and Sarah Comerford, brother John-Joe, her sisters who died in their infancy and brother-in-law Peter Whelan. Sadly missed by her loving family, Nicola, Keifer and Micheala, their father Terry, Nicola’s partner Michael, Keifer’s partner Shannon, her adored grandchildren Finley, Amelia and Maia, sisters Josephine (Whelan), Lily (Fagan) and Ann (Maher), brothers Frank, Tommy, Michael, Vincent, Richard and Pat, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence (Eircode R32 V5 D3) on Friday evening from 5pm until 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 10.45am to The Island Crematorium, Cork, arriving for funeral service at 1pm. No flowers, please. Donations, if desired, to The Milford Care Centre, Limerick.

Margaret (Peg) Phelan (née Rafter)
Knockanoran, Durrow, Laois

Peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Jimmy, sons John and Joe, brother Sean, grandson Sean and great-granddaughter Bridie. Deeply regretted by her loving children Patricia (Burns), Liam, P.J.,Shem, Mary (Lyons), Bridie (Dowling), Eamonn, Ger, Anthony and Fintan, her brother Edmund Rafter, sister in law Betty, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Holy Trinity Church, Durrow, on Friday 10th of November, from 4.30pm concluding with prayers at 7.30 pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 2pm followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, in lieu of flowers, to Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. House strictly private, please.

Formerly of South Africa, Ballord Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise, Laois / Dublin

The death has taken place of Rubiya Majam, Ballord Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise and formerly South Africa and Dublin, on 3rd November 2023.

Deeply regretted by her daughter Raziyah, son Jason, grandchildren Rhys, Conor, Emmet and their mother Breda, son-in-law Mark, all the staff at The Ballord Lodge, Portlaoise and her many friends.

Rubiya will repose at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mortuary, Portlaoise, from 10:30am on Saturday (11th November) to 11:30am. Funeral Mass will take place in Ss Peter’s and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, at 12 noon on Saturday and afterwards Rubiya will be laid to rest in Ss Peter’s and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Frank Jackson, River View, Kilbricken, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died 8th November 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his beloved son Keith, parents, and brothers. Sadly missed by his loving wife Emily, son Nial, daughters Lorna and Olga, grandchildren, sister Olive, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, niece, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his home (Eircode R32A3F4) on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th November from 4.0’clock until 8.0’clock each evening. Removal on Saturday afternoon to St. Peter’s Church Mountrath (Eircode R32EN81) , for Funeral Service at 2.30p.m., followed by Burial in the adjoining Churchyard.

KING (née Scully) Clare, 7th November 2023, Old Bawn, Tallaght, D.24, formerly of Orchardstown Park, Rathfarnham and Mountmellick, Co. Laois. Peacefully, surrounded by her family in the tender loving care of Millbrook Manor Nursing Home, Saggart.

Beloved wife of the late James (Jim), much loved mother of Terence and Clare. Clare will be forever loved and dearly missed by her son and daughter, son-in-law Rónán, daughter-in-law Liz, her adored grandchildren Oisín & Nikita, Aoife, Áine, Finian, Sailí Áine, Daisy, Caitriona and Amy, her beloved nieces Deirdre, Fiona, Úna, Emer and Maeve, extended family, relatives and her many friends.

Reposing at Massey Bros Funeral Home, Templeogue Village this Friday afternoon from 2pm – 4pm with removal to the Church of St. Martin de Porres, Old Bawn arriving for 5.30pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning at 10am with burial thereafter in Mt. Jerome Cemetery.

Rachel Krechnyak (née Moynan)
Coolbaun, Castlecomer, Kilkenny, R95TC6E / Durrow, Laois

Rachel passed away peacefully, on 28th October 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Predeceased by her father Edmond. Beloved wife of James and much loved mother of Caleb, Benjamin and Brianna. Rachel will be dearly missed by her husband and children, mother Elizabeth Moynan, daughter-in-law Diana, brothers Ian, Norman, Winston, Philip and Wesley, sister June, parents-in-law Jim and Helen, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home in Coolbaun (R95TC6E) on Friday (10th Nov.) from 4pm to 7pm. House private at all other times. Funeral Service on Saturday afternoon (11th Nov) at 2pm in Kilkenny Presbyterian Church, New Road, Kilkenny. A private cremation Service will follow on Monday.
