Laois Partnership Company acknowledges vital volunteers during Charity Trustee Week 2023

At its recent Annual General Meeting, Laois Partnership Company paid tribute to several long-standing trustees who stepped down from the Board.

These trustees have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Company, since its formation in 2008.

Retiring Chairman, Peter O’Neill, thanked his fellow trustees, and on their retirement, acknowledged the dedication shown by long standing members – Ms Josephine Sutton, Ms Teresa McEvoy and Mr Michael Cobbe.

Incoming Chairman, Mr Laurence Phelan, thanked Mr O’Neill and the others as well as recently retired trustee, Mr Declan Kirrane, for their time and commitment to the Board and to their unwavering support for the company.

He also acknowledged the current Trustees, who sit on a Board of 14 members and who meet regularly to review the work of the organisation.

Mr Phelan stated that he was looking forward to taking on the role of chairperson and to working with the new CEO, Caroline Lydon, who has been in place since June of this year, and with the dedicated staff team.

Laois Partnership Company are a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.

The Company delivers a range of programmes and supports across County Laois, through government and EU funded programmes.

Its aims to enhance the social, economic and community landscape across the County to make Laois a better place to live.

Charity Trustees’ Week is a National annual event which celebrates and showcases the great work that trustees do on a voluntary basis.

It highlights opportunities for people from different backgrounds with all kinds of experience to get involved and help make a difference.

A charity trustee is a volunteer who sits on a board of directors to help support the governance and oversight of a registered charity organisation.

Charity Trustees week will run from November 13 to 17, offering a range of events for Trustees.

“This is an important week to consider and thank our unpaid Board members who give freely of their time and expertise,” said LPC CEO, Caroline Lydon.

“We would like to acknowledge outgoing members for their contributions, some of whom helped to found the organisation in 2008.”

Laois Partnership company recently held an open day at their new premises on New Road, and plan to welcome members of the public to an information day to be arranged in the New Year.
