Preparations in place as first ever children’s choir in the Stradbally Parish set to perform

Confirmation in Stradbally cancelled

Preparations are in full swing as the first ever children’s choir in the parish of Stradbally are getting ready for their big performance.

At a special children’s mass on Christmas Eve, boys and girls from Stradbally, Timahoe and Vicarstown will come together.

The Sacred Heart Church will be the venue with mass starting at 5.30pm.

Children who are taking part are asked to be in the church at 5pm for a quick rehearsal before hands.

The choir is being led by Stradbally native Paula Hennessy, who is a primary school teacher in Kildare.

While Damien Bowe, from Timahoe and of the popular wedding band The Vows, will be on guitar.

The group held their first rehearsal at the weekend but Paula says it is not too late for newcomers to join.

She said: “We are really looking forward to performing on Sunday evening.

“And it is not too late for more children to get involved. Anyone who would like to do so can text 085-2371579.

“We will provide you with the recordings of the songs for practice before the big day.

“We would also like to thank Fr David Vard who has been so supportive to us with this endeavour.”

The parish has gone choir mad in recent weeks with the Timahoe Male Choir putting on their first performance on Sunday last.

At the church in Timahoe, led by the aforementioned Damien Bowe, they performed a range of songs which can be viewed on the Stradbally Noticeboard Facebook page.
