Priya Kumar Sengupta, Woodbrook, Portarlington, Oghill Nursing Home, Monasterevin, Enfield, London and formerly of Yangon, Myanmar. In the compassionate care of Portlaoise Hospital surrounded by his loving daughter Mousumi (Sumi Dunne), son-in-law Matt and adoring grandchildren Joshua, Anouska, Noah and Mallika. Predeceased by his dedicated wife Dipali, his darling sister Snighda, brother Khoka, parents Prafulla Chandra Sengupta and Nirupama Sen.

Deeply and sadly missed by the extended Dunne, Rakhit and Sengupta families, sister Sipra, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a beautiful circle of very dear friends.

A Celebration of Life ceremony to take place at the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium Harold’s Cross Dublin (eircode D6W HY98) on Wednesday 3rd January 2024 at 4pm.

Mary Bergin (née Fitzpatrick)
St. Martin’s Avenue, Naas, Kildare/Portlaoise, Laois

Formerly of Portlaoise, Co Laois.

In the tender care of the staff of Naas Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Donal (Donie), mother of Donal, James (Jim), Liz, Mary and Ann.

Sadly missed by her family, brothers Mick and Billy, sister Eileen, daughters-in-law Jean and Anne, sons-in-law Jim and Leslie, Liz’s partner Mike, grandchildren Tamara, Luke, Keith, Rebecca, Rachel and Matthew, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at The George Mullins Funeral Home, Kilcullen Road, Naas (eircode W91 CD0K) on Monday from 4pm to 6pm with prayers at 5.30pm.

Funeral on Tuesday with Requiem Mass at 10am in The Church of Our Lady and St. David, Naas and afterwards to St. Corban’s Cemetery, Dublin Road, Naas.

Mary Donovan (née Mcloughlin)
Liogard, Portlaoise, Laois

Mary Donovan (nee McLoughin) Liogard Portlaoise Dec 30th 2023. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife to Dominic and loving mother to Derek and Edel.

Cherished grandmother to Lauryn, Faye, and Ciamh. Deeply regretted by her brothers Pat and Noel and sister Margaret and recently deceased sister Betty Phelan, Derek’s partner Emma. Also Lauryn, Faye and Ciamh’s mother Olive, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6.30 till 8pm, with rosary at 7.30. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 12 noon requiem mass.

Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery Portlaoise.

Mavis Harmsworth
Ballycarnan, Portlaoise, Laois, R32RW35/Rosslare Harbour, Wexford

Mavis Alison Harmsworth, Ballycarnan, Portlaoise and late of Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford, December 31st 2023. Peacefully, at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget, surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother to Brett and Daniel.

Cherished grandmother to Kai, Leo, Matthew and Emma. Fondly remembered by her daughter in law Lorraine (Burke) and Daniel’s partner Jennifer, sister Sandra, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her son’s residence at Ballycarnan (R32RW35) on Tuesday afternoon from 1pm until 6pm. Removal on Wednesday morning for private cremation.

Frank Sheils
Garryvacum, Ballybrittas, Laois/Duniry, Galway

Formerly of Lisnagry, Duniry County Galway. Suddenly at his residence. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Nan and brother James. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Breda, family Siobhan, Eamonn and Deirdre, brothers Sean, Raymond, Gerard, Stephen and Pat, sister Marion, grandchildren Rory, Declan, Aidan, Emma, Mark, Cian and Mary-Kate, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

May He Rest In Peace. The family would like to thank you for your help and understanding at this sad and difficult time.

Suddenly at home. Loving son of Elizabeth (Elaine) and Raymond, dear brother of David, Robert, Andrew and Sandra and adored uncle of Darren, Marcus, Joshua, Ryan, Yulia and Ella.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, sisters-in-law,brother-in-law. aunts, uncles,cousins, family circle and friends especially Allen.

St. Vincent’s, Lisnagry, Limerick/Ballyroan, Laois

MEEHAN, Esther, formerly of Ballyroan, Co. Laois and St. Vincents, Lisnagry, Co. Limerick. Died 29th December 2023, peacefully after a long illness in Milbrae Lodge Nursing Home Newport, surrounded by her friends. Deeply cared for and loved by the Daughters of Charity.

Sadly missed by her dearest friends Evelyn Mulhall, Marie Tuohy, Cormac Hurley, Geraldine Nicholas, Breda White, Mary Crotty, and cousin John, also her friends in Lisnagry and extended Meehan family.

Reposing in the Chapel at St. Vincent’s Lisnagry on Sunday 31st December from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with prayers at 5.30 p.m.

Requiem Mass on Monday 1st January at 11.30 a.m., which can be viewed on http://linktr.ee/stvincentsmass burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Castleconnell.

Shane Lynch. St. Brigids Place Portlaoise. Died 29th December 2023 unexpectedly.

Predeceased by his father Willie. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken mother Kathleen, sisters Tara, Katie, Nicole and Shannon, brothers Dylan and Aaron, nieces, nephews, grandmother Betty Lynch, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s funeral home Portlaoise on Sunday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm. Requiem mass on Monday at 12 noon in SS Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaoise. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s cemetery.

Elizabeth Curran (née Haughney)
Beechmount Road, Highfield Park, Galway City, Galway/Crettyard, Laois

Elizabeth Curran (née Haughney), Beechmount Road, Highfield Park, Galway and formerly of Clonbrock, Crettyard, Co. Laois, passed away peacefully in Galway Hospice on Thursday 21st December, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Jim, brothers Martin and Paddy, sisters Ellen and Annie, nephew Michael Hughes and his wife Anne and her niece Bernadette Hughes.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Louise, sons John and Martin, granddaughters Niamh, Aoife, Ellen and Anna, great-grandchildren Marni, James and Alice, son-in-law Kelvin, daughter-in-law Karen, sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy on Tuesday (Jan. 2nd) from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 3rd January, 2024 in Saint Abban’s Church, Doonane, Crettyard at 12 noon.
