Sadness as owner of well-known Laois business passes away

    There is sadness in Laois, Meath and Tipperary this week following the passing of a well-known Laois business owner.

    Richard Doyle, of Blackhall Little, Kilcloon, Meath, passed away on Saturday, December 30.

    Formerly of Bansha in Tipperary, Mr Doyle is well known in Laois as the owner of Doyle’s Shoes.

    Established around 30 years ago, Doyle’s Shoes provides ladies and men’s footwear.

    Located on Lower Main Street in Portlaoise, Richard ran the business where he is fondly remembered as a gentleman.

    Following news of his passing, many customers and former employees have taken to social to express what a welcoming and kind man he was.

    Richard is predeceased by his wife Mary (nee O’Brien), sister Marian, parents George and Ellen (Nellie), brothers-in-law Noel, Des and sister-in-law Patricia.

    He will be sadly missed by his children Kieran, Ronan, Aidan, Ann-Marie her partner Faizal, and daughters-in-law Louise and Christina, brother Nicky, sisters-in-law Christine, Carmel and Mary, brothers-in-law Jim, Getser and John, grandchildren Ami, Anna, Jack, Joe, Caelan, Juliana nephews, nieces, relatives and dear friends.

    Richard will be reposing at his home, Blackhall Little, Kilcloon on Thursday, January 4, from 4pm to 7pm. The house will be private on Friday morning.

    Richard’s removal will take place on Friday morning to St Oliver Plunkett’s Church, Kilcloon, A85 WD82 arriving for funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.
