RTE cameras set to capture the occasion at first ever St Patrick’s Day Parade in The Heath

The RTE cameras will be present in The Heath on Sunday when history is made as the local community there will hold its first ever St Patrick’s Day parade.

The initiative is part of the work being done by a newly-formed Health and Well Being committee that has been very active in recent weeks.

The group have already ran a very successful Ireland Lights Up project where over 140 people registered and walked the new track at The Heath GAA grounds.

They also have set up an Active Retirement group that organises pilates, a weekly card night and have plans for a music session.

Courses and weekend trips are also on the horizon but at the moment the big focus is on the St Patrick’s Day parade, which will begin at the club GAA grounds at 8.45am on March 17 and march to mass for 9.30am.

Refreshments will follow in the church hall.

A spokesperson said: “We are asking as many people as possible to come out and watch the parade.

“Everyone is welcome to line the road and support the efforts that everyone has made.

“Please note that one the parade has started, the road from The Heath GAA to JK Autos will be closed.”
