Sadness at death of popular local pharmacist Liam Adams

Liam Adams RIP

The death has occurred of Liam Adams in Portlaoise, a well-known local pharmacist who was highly regarded in the area.

Liam and his wife Roisin were behind the Adams Pharmacy business, which had shops in Tullamore and Portlaoise for a long number of years.

An Offaly native, Liam mostly manned the Tullamore pharmacy during his working career, taking over the long-standing family business.

On occasion he was behind the desk in Portlaoise too, where his kindness and warm personality shone through.

Adams Pharmacy were generous supporters of a number of local initiatives and were particularly active in the Downtown Portlaoise traders group, of which Roisin was a former president.

The Adams Pharmacy name was also a regular sponsor in The Heath Golf Club where Liam was president in 2005, an active committee member, particularly in the junior section, and a fine player who had a single figure handicap.

Liam Adams MPSI, Glenlahan, Stradbally Road, Portlaoise, and late of Adams Pharmacy, Portlaoise and Tullamore passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 14.

Beloved husband of Róisín and dearly loved father of Niamh, Dónal and Róisín. Adored Grandad of Sorcha, Aoibhín, Órnaith, Alice and Nora.

Loving son of Eithne and the late Billy. Dear brother of Gerald, Aislinn, Kevin, Helen and Michael.

He will be very sadly missed by sons-in-law Terence and Diarmuid, daughter-in-law Jane, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and customers.

Reposing at his family residence (R32YWOC) from 2pm on Tuesday with rosary at 8pm.

Removal on Wednesday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, to arrive for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
House private on Wednesday morning please. Family flowers only.
