HSE confirm ‘hundreds’ attend Laois walk-in vaccine centre as plans for second day confirmed

The HSE has confirmed that 304 people attended their walk-in vaccination centre at the Midlands Park Hotel on Bank Holiday Monday.

When those who had appointments were also factored in, a total of 772 people received a jab.

Since the centre opened a few weeks ago in Portlaoise, a total of 55,661 persons have been vaccinated.

And a spokesperson confirmed that vaccinations continue at great pace in Laois as another 800 people are booked in for jabs today.

The spokesperson also confirmed that another walk-in clinic will be held this week.

On Thursday August 5, from 9am to 4pm, anyone aged 16 or over can turn up without an appointment and receive a vaccination.

You will be offered either the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine at a vaccination centre.

If you have already registered online, you will need to bring photo ID that shows your date of birth.

If you have not registered online, the HSE can register you at the walk-in clinic.

You will need your: Personal Public Service (PPS) number; Eircode; mobile phone number; email address; photo ID that has your date of birth – this can be a passport, driving licence, Garda age card or school ID.

A spokesperson said: “Walk-in vaccination clinics were set up over the August Bank holiday weekend to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated.

“The HSE is analysing the operational effectiveness and will make a decision on using further walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres in due course.”
