Annual Canal Fest and Beat the Barge set for Vicarstown

The annual Canal Fest and Beat the Barge Family Fun Run will take place in Vicarstown this Saturday.

The event takes place along the canal in the village and begins at 1.30pm.

There are a whole host of activities to take part in including: Canoeing & Kayaking, Dragon Boat, Paddle Boating, Raft Building, Water Zorba and Arts & Crafts.

For just €5, a child can try all of these activities if they so desire.

The Beat the Barge 4K Family Fun Run starts at 6pm sharp and registration will be from 5pm in the community hall in Vicarstown.

Entry fees are €12 for adults and €6 for kids. There will be free commemorative t-shirts for the first 300 who register.

There will be cash prizes for all the secondary school age groups and the top 5 senior ladies and men.

The night will then end with an 80s disco in Crean’s Bar.

It promises to be a great day for the whole family.
