Garda

Gardai in Portlaoise are encouraging people who buy stuff from people on online sites such as DoneDeal.ie or Adverts.ie to ‘wise up’ when it comes to how they do business.

There was an incident in Portlaoise this week where someone sold an item to a stranger, only to later discover that the cash taken in counterfeit.

“We’d urge people to carry out these deals where they know there is CCTV cameras,” said a Garda spokesperson. “Or go with them to the bank when they take out the money. We just encourage to ‘wise up’ in this area.”
