Draw made for Round 2 of the All Ireland SFC Qualifiers

Laois will play Clare in the next round of the All Ireland SFC Qualifiers

The Laois footballers will face Clare in the next round of the All Ireland SFC Qualifiers after the draw was made on RTE Radio 1 this morning.

Clare, who reached the All Ireland quarter-final last year, were beaten by Kerry in the Munster semi-final last week but will fancy their chances having beaten Laois in last season’s championship, a game that ended Mick Lillis’s reign as manager.

The game will take place in O’Moore Park after Laois were given home advantage in the draw.

The Round 2A games will take place on Saturday/Sunday, July 1/2, with the exact details confirmed by the CCCC later today.

Indeed it could be a busy week for Laois teams – the hurlers will also be in Qualifier action if they get the better of  Carlow in the Preliminary Round this weekend.

Should Laois win, they will play one of the other Round 2A winners a week later, on the weekend of July 8/9.

The draw in full is:

Meath v Sligo
Mayo v Derry
Laois v Clare
Donegal v Longford
