Courtwood GAA are gearing up for B2B cycle

Members of Courtwood GAA are gearing up for a mammoth cycle set to take place this Saturday.

Together with the Irish Heart Foundation and Heart Children Ireland Courtwood will run the B2B Cycle for Life.

Thirty members of the Courtwood club are doing a fund-raising cycle from Blackwater in Wexford to Ballybrittas – and there are five captains, all leading a team of six.

The 120km cycle is a fundraiser for the club but 25% of the money raised will go to the Irish Heart Foundation and Heart Children Ireland.

An official launch took place a couple of weeks ago where the Irish Heart Foundation Screening Unit were on hand.

The five captains – Alan O’Halloran, Claire O’Connell, Niall Donoher, Darren Burke and Eddie Kinsella – have held a series of mini fund-raisers in the lead-up to the event.

Table Quizzes, Ladies Nights and Fun Runs were all among the events carried out with a match between Laois referees and Courtwood Over 40s the highlight.

A spokesperson for the event said: “The event most certainly couldn’t take place without the extremely generous contributions of its four main sponsors Rosie and Jim – All About Food, Topcon Ireland, John Bosco Furniture and a very generous but shy fourth sponsor who will be remaining anonymous.

“It promises to be tough but the intrepid thirty have trained very hard.”
