Job vacancies rise dramatically in Laois

There has been a dramatic rise in the number of job vacancies in Laois, according to IrishJobs.ie.

In the third quarter of 2017, there was a 69 per cent increase in the number of available jobs in the county.

In further good news, it has also been revealed that new Laois businesses growth rose by 19 per cent in comparison with the same period last year.

And the country’s year-on-year growth stacks up well when compared with big urban areas like Dublin, Cork and Galway.

General Manager of IrishJobs.ie Orla Moran said that Laois is in a very strong position.

She said: “Laois is in a very strong position.

“Continuing an upward trend, the county looks set to enjoy another year of growth with a sustained increase in the number of job vacancies.”

Nationally, hotels and catering, banking and finance, sales, technology and manufacturing were the top performing sectors.

The tourism sector has enjoyed a record year with over seven million overseas visitors coming to Ireland in 2017 already.
