WATCH: LaoisToday official launch prize winners announced

We had a brilliant night in the Midlands Park Hotel on Saturday as we officially launched LaoisToday.

The evening also saw the unveiling of our App for Android and IOS.

We also began selling copies of the 2017 LaoisToday Annual.

At 160 pages, it is jam-packed with some of the top stories from around Laois in 2017 – a mixture of interviews, features, columns, opinion pieces and light-hearted stories. It also includes the full Laois GAA record of county finals from the year finished.

As well as pieces from LaoisToday team members Steven Miller, Alan Hartnett, David Power, Julie Anne Miller and Siun Lennon, there are also columns from the likes of John Whelan, Pat Critchley, Noel Garvan, Donal Miller, Colm Fingleton, Mark Doheny, Brid Keegan, Dan Keane and Isabel Dwyer.

There is also a selection of quality images from Julie Anne Miller from this year and a number of quality archive photos from Alf Harvey’s collections.

Priced at €20, it has been carefully designed by Mike McCarthy in Creactive Studios in Mountmellick and printed by Quality Printers in Portlaoise and will make for an ideal Christmas present.

Anybody who purchased a copy on the night was automatically entered into a draw to win any of six prizes generously donated to us.

These were: An overnight stay in Ballymaloe House for two including dinner, tickets to a show and breakfast the next morning; a meal for two at Kelly’s Steakhouse; a hamper from Fifty-Seven Boutique; a bottle of cream liqueur from DV8 and a bottle of gin from Brennan’s Old House, a hamper of craft beer from 12 Acres Brewing Company; and a balayage colour and blow dry from Banks Hair and Beauty.

And as the video above states, the winners have now been announced.

So congratulations to Frank Keenan who won the Banks voucher, Angela McKane who won the Kelly’s Steakhouse voucher and Ronnie Culliton who won the Fifty Seven Boutique hamper.

The 12 Acres craft beers are on their way from Killeshin to Barrowhouse to Keith Langton.

Matt Dunne is off to Ballymaloe House while Julia Miller won the DV8 and Brennan’s Gin prize.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on the night and also to those who bought the Annual.

It is available from a number of shops around the county as well as from the LaoisToday offices in the Portlaoise Enterprise Centre in the Clonminam Business Park in Portlaoise.
