Caution urged after Mountmellick road crash

Gardaí have advised caution for motorists using a back road in Mountmellick following a single vehicle crash on a back road there.

The single vehicle collision occurred close to a bridge over the Owenass River, on the back road near Irishtown.

Gardaí reported no injuries from the accident.

Struck

The car struck an Eircom pole before entering the field, close to the river.

The accident resulted in an oil spill on the road as the car was being removed.

Grit has been put down on the road to reduce slippy conditions for passing motorists.

Gardai remained at the scene this morning to notify passing motorists of the dangerous surface.

Conditions were wet this morning as people made their way to school/work.

The accident resulted in minor delays for motorists.
