Soccer – Leinster Senior League Division 1A

Portlaoise AFC claimed their second win in less than a week in the Leinster Senior League Division 1A – as they got the better of visitors Arklow Town in Rossleighan Park this evening.

Portlaoise beat Inchicore 2-0 on Friday last and this latest win sees win sees them move up to fifth in the table. It also means that they’ve now won four and drawn one of their last six games.

Jody Dillon got the scoring underway to put Portlaoise one up and Shane Collins doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute.

Jason Caffrey got Portlaoise’s third goal and although Arklow struck twice themselves, Portlaoise were able to do enough to hold on.

The win means Portlaoise move on to 17 points and ahead of Templeogue on scoring difference. Edenderry Town are in fourth on 18 points, albeit with two games in hand.
