Our guide to what’s on at the weekend

If you’re looking for somewhere to bring the family this weekend, look no future than county Laois.

Between teddy bear’s picnics, family fun days, cake sales, Fetes and Medley days – there’s somewhere for everyone to burn off that summer energy around the county.

SATURDAY JUNE 16

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

A teddy bear’s picnic will be held at Heritage House, Abbeyleix, from 1pm to 4pm. Follow the clues in the bear hunt, enjoy some sweet treats, get your face painted and bring along your own bear and other favourite toys to take part.

Meet the Laois football team

The Laois senior football team have organised a Meet And Greet with the supporters in O’Moore Park at 5.30pm.

Family Fun Day 

Graiguecullen Parish childcare centre are holding an open day and ice-cream funday in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland from 10am to 2pm.

Graiguecullen Cake Sale 

Graiguecullen GAA are holding a cake sale in aid of the Feile team travelling to county Down. It will take place in the parish centre after Mass on Saturday June 16 and Sunday June 17.

Cage Warrior

SBG Portarlington Head Coach Philip “The Honeybadger” Mulpeter is fighting on the Cage Warriors 94 card in Antwerp, Belgium. To view the fight check out UFC Fight pass or BT Sports for the viewing time.

SUNDAY JUNE 17

Timahoe Medley Day

Medley Day will be held from 12 noon until 6pm. The day will start off with a tractor run with registration from 12.30pm in the hall.

The SVT sports hub will also be there and have their ‘Bike & Bits’ fun cycle run to celebrate Bike Week.

The ‘Medley Mile’ road race takes place at 3pm with registration from 2.30pm. The Medley Day will have the usual stalls and fun activities.

Clonenagh Fete

Clonenagh school, Mountrath, will hold a fundraising Fete in the school grounds from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Penalty shootouts, lucky dips, raffles, stalls and cakes will all be there on the day.

Killeshin GAA Fun Day

Killeshin GAA Family Fun Day is on from 2pm to 6pm.

Pioneer Celebration 

The Mid-Leinster Pioneer Council Golden Jubilee will be held at The Heath Church at 7pm.
