Laois Blinds was set up in 2002 by Dinny and Anne O’Shaughnessy. Dinny had years of background sales experience working as a sales manager with Avonmore and Irish Pride.
With an existing factory built many years before 2002 they decided to try their hands at blind making.
Seven years later their daughter Ashling came on board as a sales rep the brand changed to Laois Blinds & Curtains and the company never looked back.
Ashling had lived in Australia for many years thought maybe there might be a slight niche in the market for the commerical industry regarding flyscreen windows and doors.
Ashling took over the business three years ago although she says that “while Dinny has tried to hand up the measuring tape he is still very much involved in the business”.
With the location and space to manufacture and with not a lot of competition in the surrounding countries this product has proven to be very successful.
“The summer months in Ireland always bring the bugs,” says Ashling.
