Timahoe NS students pave the way for Royal visit

“If it’s good enough for Timahoe NS, it’s good enough for the royals” – so said the 6th class students of Timahoe NS after it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the Irish Emigration Museum (EPIC) which tells the story of the ten million Irish people who have emigrated across the world.

The Timahoe NS children were invited to avail of the state-of-the-art interactive experience by Ballyadams based Aileesh Carew who is Epic’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

It is located in the beautiful vaults of the 1820 Custom House Quarter building in the Dublin docklands.

The students were both amazed and delighted to hear that the newly wed royals would be following in their footsteps.

Megan and Harry are coming to Ireland for a Royal visit is part of a two day trip to Ireland taking place on the 10th and 11th of July.

The class visit to EPIC was the highlight of the annual 6th class trip to Dublin which included a tour of Dáil Éireann, St. Stephen’s Green and Trinity College.

Epic’s award winning interactive facility takes the visitor back in time to discover the stories of Irish emigration around the world, from early times to the modern day.

The 20 themed galleries tell of why people left, how they influenced the world they found, and the connections between their descendants and Ireland today.

Student Gracie Coyne, a self-confessed royal super-fan, couldn’t contain her excitement at the news of the royals impending visit.

She said: “I can’t believe they’re coming here…..we just missed them by a few days!!“

Sophie Phelan, another avid royal fan said: “Prince Harry and Princess Meghan will love EPIC, the technology is amazing and it’s really interesting”.

EPIC is a must-do for visitors looking to get a deeper understanding of Ireland and what it means to be Irish.
