There’s nothing like a mid-week championship match in O’Moore Park.
Well, there probably is, but it’s still a pleasant experience to rock up to the Laois GAA headquarters of a summer’s evening to watch two teams battle it out to go forward to the next round of the championship.
Emo and Arles-Killeen are two teams that have experienced county final day in recent years – Arles-Killeen in 2013 and 2014, Emo in 2015 – and they’re among the chasing pack behind Portlaoise aiming to reach the big day again.
Last Sunday they met in O’Moore Park in a dramatic game that saw Arles-Killeen reduced to 14 men within a minute of the throw-in – yet in the end it was Emo that needed an injury time free from Darren Strong to force a replay.
Arles-Killeen look set to welcome back Donie Kingston for this one after he missed the first game because of suspension. Goalkeeper Michael Leigh will have to sit it out though after that afore-mentioned red card in the drawn game.
The prize for the winners is a Round 2 clash with Arles-Kilcruise, dramatic winners over Stradbally in their opening game.
The losers will meet league champions O’Dempsey’s, who were beaten by Graiguecullen in their opening game.
And as well as updates from the Arles-Killeen v Emo game, we will also have news from the Rathdowney-Errill v Clonad Laois IHC game which is being played in Ratheniska.
You can follow all of the action from both games in our Live Blog below.
