Local Enterprise Office rolling out two new Start your Own Business courses this autumn

The Laois Local Enterprise Office is a wonderful resource for people in business – and among the course they’re running this autumn is their ever-popular Start Your Own Business programme.

It is important to plan in advance of setting up a business.  Preparation is the single most important thing you can do to ensure your fledging business gets off the ground and continues flying.

The four key questions you should ask yourself before starting a business:

  • Is your business idea viable?
  • Can you develop a competitive and sustainable enterprise?
  • Are you prepared to take the risk ?
  • What skills do you require to achieve your objectives ?

The Local Enterprise Office Start Your Own Business Programme focuses on anyone with a business idea they want to develop, anyone looking at self-employment as a career option and anyone who has recently started a business,  and  provides them with the skills, management tools and expertise to make the right decisions, plan and organise effectively.

The programme will guide them through the various aspects of business and business planning.  The objective is to assist them  in assessing their  idea, its viability and to decide if they should proceed or take a step back.

The following is the typical content and breakdown of a Start your own Business Training programme:

  • Self Assessment
  • Preparing a business plan
  • Business set up
  • Cashflow and cash collection
  • HR and employment legislation
  • Sources of finance
  • Costing and pricing
  • Researching the market
  • Marketing for the small business
  • Legal issues for start ups

The next Start Your own Business Course through the Local Enterprise Office will commence on Wednesday, September 19, at 7pm and  will run for 10 weeks, one evening a week, until Wednesday, November 21.

If an evening course does not suit, you can opt for a  day course commencing on Wednesday, September 19 at 9.30 am and running for 4 days until Wednesday, October 10.

Both courses will be delivered by professional trainers to a very high standard and are heavily subsidised by the Local Enterprise Office at a cost of €100 per course.  All courses must be booked online at www.localenterprise.ie/laois
