    The Portlaoise Town Team held the official launch of their new brand logo for the town on Friday September 21.

    Over the past year, the Portlaoise Town Team have conducted a health check of the Town which has helped them to identify the key strengths and weaknesses of Portlaoise which they are now addressing in their Town Team Action Plan due to be finalized before the end of the year.

    Thanks to the health check the Town Team now have a clear idea about what they need to do to promote Portlaoise as a great place to live, shop and do business in.

    The first step in this regard was to produce a brand logo for the town which encapsulates everything we believe Portlaoise stands for.

    The logo designed by Penhouse in association with the Town Team contains a little “Town Scene” through simplified graphics to represent out County town as we wish to be perceived by others but also as we believe is representative of our offering.

    As well as launching a new brand logo, the Town Team in conjunction with Downtown Portlaoise are also launching the Me2You gift card.

    The Portlaoise Town gift card is designed with local retailers in mind and is an excellent way to recognize and reward while supporting local.

    The gift cards will be available from October and are accepted by 36 retailers around Portlaoise and counting.

    Minister Charlie Flanagan was on hand on the day to launch the new brand and gift card and stated;

    “The new Portlaoise brand and gift card are a welcome step towards the renewal of the Town Centre in Portlaoise. It is great to see so many sectors represented within the Town Team and all working together towards a shared vision of Portlaoise for the future.”

    We believe the card will encourage people to shop local and also drive sales to local shops and businesses throughout the town.

    The Portlaoise Town Team was established in October 2017 and has been working hard for the past year to re-establish Portlaoise as a vibrant and exciting destination for people both to live and to visit.

    The purpose of the Town Team is to develop a coherent and collaborative approach to implementing Town Centre renewal in Portlaoise.

    The Town Team is made up of representatives from a variety of sectors; business and retail, local authority, residents, heritage and tourism, Gardai, Charities, Community groups and local politicians.
