New senior engineer appointed to municipal district

A new senior engineer has been appointed to the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick municipal district.

Stan Cullen comes in with a wealth of experience to the role, and replaces Paul McLoughlin in the position.

Mr McLoughlin is now the acting Senior Engineer Project Manager of the Laois Capital Projects Office at Laois County Council.

Mr Cullen attended his first sitting of the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick municipal district meeting today.

In the meeting, notices of motion and the draft budgetary plan were discussed.

Budget plan for next year

A total of €138,000 was made available to the municipal district. This is broken down into sections a follows:

Burial Ground Maintenance €12,000
Footpaths €42,000
Public Lights €18,000
Traffic Calming €30,000
Speed Detection Signs €24,000
Community Projects €12,000
