Popular Laois woman set to appear on Winning Streak

Helen Flynn and her Winning Streak bound mother Mary Flynn

Laois people are on a serious run at making it on to the tele at the minute.

Portlaoise woman Mary Flynn was pulled out of the drum by Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy on last weekend’s episode of Winning Streak.

Mary, who works as a nurse, is set to take her place on the show where should could win up to €500,000.

She will be up against a Monaghan woman who is set to make Lotto history as she gears up to appear on Winning Streak for a third time.

Rose Anne Shankey, who is 83, and is a shoe shop owner from Carrickmacross, has won a total of €111,000 in her previous two appearances.

When she appeared on the show with hosts Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy in December 2013, she got to spin the Grand Prize Wheel to win a total of €91,400.

In January 2008, she also won a tidy sum of €20,000 when she appeared on the show presented by Derek Mooney.

Mary’s good news comes less than a month after another Laois man appeared on the popular game show.

Retired tailor, Vincent Keegan, won a tidy €27,000 back at the end of September.

And it seems that Mary’s appearance will be followed on the other side of the world as her daughter Helen tweeted her excitement.

She has only recently emigrated to Australia but will no doubt be tuning in to see how her mammy gets on.

We hope Mary gets to spin that wheel!
