Poor weather conditions interfere with this week’s Laois soccer action

The Midlands face Donegal in the Kennedy Cup this evening

It was a quiet weekend for Laois soccer with only one game down for decision where Clonaslee were winners over Grange Utd.

Elsewhere, poor weather conditions caused Rosenallis’ game against Mullingar to be postponed allowing the Christmas break to start early.

Clonaslee took the first win of the weekend beating Grange Utd on Saturday.

Despite having played with the wind and obtaining most of the possession in the first half, Clonaslee conceded a 15 minute goal from Grange’s first attack.

The side lifted their heads and created more chances and in the 35th minute, Mark Doherty found space from a corner to level the game leaving the halftime score at 1-1.

The second half saw Clonaslee in control of the ball and despite the interference of poor weather conditions, the winning goal came in the 73rd minute of the game.

Following some great team play, Sean Dunne made no mistake in finding the back of the Grange net.

Grange pushed hard for another goal but great defence from Ger Reilly denied them the chance to level the game, leaving Clonaslee a goal ahead at the final whistle.
