Operation Transformation walks to take over Laois this weekend

Last year's Operation Transformation walk in Portarlington

Four locations around the county are set to host the masses as participants meet for the nationwide ‘Operation Transformation’ event.

On Saturday, January 12 participants will converge from Ballykilcavan House outside Stradbally for either the 3km or 5km walk.

Durrow walkers are meeting at The Square for their 5km or 8km journey through Capponellagh Woods.

Meanwhile Emo Court will also host a 5km walk starting from Emo Community hall.

The Leisure Centre in Moneyballytyrell gives Portlaoise walkers a meeting place for their 5km trek along the Slí na Sláinte route.

All walks take place at 11am.

Many community groups and organisations are also hosting their own Operation Transformation groups, following inspiration from the hugely popular show.

Indeed a strong Laois presence is on the show this year, as Portarlington woman Dr Sumi Dunne is taking over from Dr Ciara for the twelfth series.

Operation Transformation begins on RTÉ One this Wednesday, January 9 at 9.35pm.
