Work begins in Portlaoise on new kidney dialysis clinic

Construction work is about to begin on a kidney dialysis clinic in Portlaoise that will cater for 60 patients from across the midlands.

Ground clearance has been carried out over the past few weeks at a greenfield site on the Timahoe road.

And the news means that jobs are on the way to Portlaoise as the clinic is expected to bring up to 20 medical and ancillary jobs to the area.

The renal care centre is being developed by international healthcare giant B Braun Atvium.

The German company already has two other Irish clinics in Wexford and Galway and the Portlaoise clinic scheduled to open this autumn.

The single-storey 800sq m clinic at Lismard Business Park will include 29 parking spaces and a well-designed easy access routes.

Plans for the Portlaoise clinic were designed by Kildare based firm McLoughlin Architecture.
